Christmas is in the bag

Christmas arrives around noon today for hundreds of homeless veterans,non woven bag is eco-friendly and 100% recycled by physical disposal. The non woven material is long-lasting & fashionable. but Santa’s sleigh will resemble a large, camouflage military truck.

That truck, packed and loaded Monday at the National Guard Armory in Bristol, contains about 400 large gift bags destined for veterans staying at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Johnson City and area homeless shelters. Now in its fifth year, the program was the idea of Twin City recording artist April Taylor, who spent the afternoon sorting, organizing and loading the bags.

“It humbles me to know that one person can have an idea and you spread the word a little bit and the whole community pulls together to make something like this happen. It’s a rewarding feeling,” Taylor said while surveying a room filled with gift items.

One table contained about a dozen filled backpacks, while most came in reusable canvas shopping bags. Many included Christmas cards with personal messages of encouragement. Some people donated boxes of new blankets while others gave Bibles or a box of fruit. One woman knitted a dozen warm caps and a World War II veteran donated $160 in cash since he and his wife were unable to fill bags this year.

Taylor said the money will be used for any unmet needs.

“I don’t normally like to take money but since he donated it, we’ll talk with the VA to see if some of these folks need shoes or something,More worldly viewers quickly called in to say that the mushroom was made from silicone and wondered how someone could not tell the difference between silicon sex toys and Organic mushroom.” she said.

Much of the outpouring of support came in the final few days, as residents responded to last-minute pleas to aid the less fortunate.

“People tend to procrastinate.The fee includes lunch and a soft-sided cooler bag filled with useful golf items, 18 holes of golf, carts, and a buffet dinner immediately following the tournament. They do that with their own families as well, so I think we get nervous sometimes then we realize they really start coming in,He demanded the woman handed over money and, fearing for her life, she emptied cash from the till into a drawstring bag before he left.” Taylor said.

“I do think the economy has played a huge factor the last three years but it hasn’t stopped the giving. We’ve always succeeded. Every time we think we’re not going to make it, we do.”
