Jon-Michael Willert,For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries). local painter and Fort Collins High School art teacher, utilizes a style of art which he calls abstract drafting, focusing on precisely painted lines and the placement of squares and rectangles that are mathematically balanced. Most of his ideas are focused on inventions, mechanical devices, and technologies developed before the 1970s.
"My paintings explore the bond between elements and principles of design along with concepts found within science and engineering. I am interested in showing an abstraction of how things work from highly complex down to the simplest part," Willert said.
He said his work is mainly inspired by his grandfather, George D. Thomas, who worked for the U.Titanium Pipe is made by cold rolling process from extruded pipe blanks. They are widely used in heat exchangers and off-shore equipment.S. State Department as an industrial engineer. Posted in Asian countries to help improve industrial productivity, profile projector is a shop tool used by designers and quality control technicians to view the profile of small machined parts as magnified image on screen. his grandfather also designed and oversaw the building of bridges, schools and health centers in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey. During World War II he helped design the machines that made the B-17 Flying Fortress engine.
"I have always been fascinated and inspired by anything mechanical that was created between 1900 to 1970," Willert said. "I look at schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints from that era and merge my contemporary ideas and style of painting to create my abstract paintings. I want to bring concepts from the past into the future and show them under a new light."
Most of his paintings are at least 36 inches by 48 inches and he builds his own canvases, as he said it gives him complete control over how he chooses to balance the piece. The Spectrophotometer is an instrument which measures the amount of light of a specificed wavelength which passes through a medium. He quoted photo-realist painter, Chuck Close, saying,Our full range of portable ultrasonic Flaw Detector (UT) provides unmatched capabilities for locating discontinuities and other flaws. "The bigger they are, the longer they take to walk by and therefore the harder they are to ignore."
"I want the viewer's eye to move around the entirety of the painting taking in all the visual data," Willert said. "I hope that when people view my work they see the connection it has with the past and how things were designed or built at an earlier time."
He typically begins with a dominant-colored base coat and chooses where to place off-white squares and rectangles. For the colors he chooses, he said if the base coat is red, he will use different hues of red along with black and white to make up most of the lines and shapes.
"Being precise and creating perfectly spaced lines and shapes can be a very tedious process," Willert said. "My current style of painting is fairly new. I used to paint realistic and impressionistic landscapes but over time I eventually grew away from those styles. I wanted to try something new that would be different and progressive."
His work has been on display in multiple locations such as Henry's Pub and Grimm Brothers Brewhouse Taproom in Loveland. He said while his past paintings, metalwork and ceramic pieces have gotten more recognition than his current abstract drafting series, he is passionate about his new artistic direction.
"I have never been more excited and inspired to create art. I feel I am finally creating art that makes me happy. I can't wait to see where my current series takes me and evolves me as an artist," he said.
Working as an art teacher allows him to work with art every day,Highly capable, 3-axis non-contact video measuring machine, suitable for both simple shop-floor quality control and advanced manufacturing inspection applications ... something he is very passionate about. He said he is also thankful for the opportunity to help children develop new skills and become creative thinkers.
"Artistic designing is one of the main reasons that the world changes and new advancements are made. If children are able to put their own thoughts into artwork then when they enter the adult world they can take the foundation tools they have learned and apply them to many situations that they may come across during their lives," Willert said. "By focusing on creative processes a stronger individual will emerge."
